Prefontaine Track Club member Lindsey Wright of Reedsport has qualified for the Junior Olympics national meet in Omaha, Neb.
Wright, who competes in the youth girls age group, won the pole vault in a jump-off, clearing 8-6, at the regional meet in Spokane, Wash. Wright also won the high jump by clearing a new personal-best 5-1.
She was the only Prefontaine Track Club member to compete at the regional meet. She qualified by winning state titles in both events, clearing 4-9 in the high jump and 8-4 in the pole vault. Wright also finished fifth in the long jump, soaring 14-21⁄2.
Several other club members participated in the state meet, held June 19-22 in Salem.
Sammie Clark won the intermediate girls pole vault, clearing 11 feet.
Francesca Frasier won the young women’s 2,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 7:53.17.
Amelia Harvey was fifth in the bantam girls 800 (4:04.10) and seventh in the 1,500 (7:48.08).
Katie Sagar was 12th in the midget girls 1,500 (7:04.32).
Ashton Mann was fifth in the youth girls 100 (13.86) and 200 (28.59) and fourth in the triple jump (30-43⁄4).
Peyton Babb was third in the youth girls 200-meter hurdles (30.96) and seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (17.74). Babb also was third in the long jump (15-23⁄4).
Sydney Snook finished second in the intermediate girls 1,500 with a time of 5:06.95.
Jason Fegles was eighth in the intermediate boys pole vault (10 feet).
Moriah Roberge was second in the young women’s pole vault, clearing 11 feet.
Greg Puhl was 11th in the 100 (12.05) and Alexander Clark was 13th (12.24) in the young men’s age group.
Claude Wilson was eighth in the 200 (24.47). Clark, who did not qualify for the finals, was fifth in his preliminary heat in 24.17.
Caleb Kruse was second in the young men’s triple jump with a leap of 45-53⁄4.
Wilson, Clark, Puhl and Kruse also won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:40.99.
