The Juneau-Douglas High School cross country teams both placed second in their respective Region V 4A Championship events at Ketchikan over the weekend.

The girls team finished with 36 total team points to finish behind Ketchikan's 69 points in first place.

The boys team grabbed 38 total points to finish behind Ketchikan's 67 points in first place.

Both teams will advance, along with the teams from Ketchikan, to the state meet in Palmer this weekend.

It was a great meet for the kids over the weekend, coach Guy Thibodeau said. Unfortunately one of our coaches, Merry Ellefson, got sick and spent the weekend in the hospital down there.
