LEARNING BY DOING TRACK CLINICThe Hood River coaching staff, and FCA are proud to present the 26th annualLearning-By-Doing Track Clinic. We would like to share some world class and national class talent and coaches with your athletes. The clinic will be held on Saturday, March 12th at Hood River HS and will be open to Oregon and Washington athletes and coaches. This format allows you to work with great athletes or coaches all day long on your event. Athletes should come prepared to participate by wearing appropriate practice gear. Please bring your implements or pole. Athletes will be going through drills and progressions in their events. The clinic is inside and out. Wear tights, sweats, and gloves for afternoon sessions. We will be providing a LUNCH of spaghetti, bread, salad and drink, which is included in the $20.00 clinic price.ATHLETES/COACHESDISTANCEBob Julian - 30 plus years coaching at Ashland H.S., 4 State Championships, 13 District Championships,Past President for Track and Cross Country Association, Regional Coach of the Year, 1990. Track and  Cross Country Association Regional Coach of the Year, 1990. One of Oregon's all-time finest coaches. Bob and his son were, and are elite runners.SPRINTSGeorge Walcott- Former University of Oregon and Stanford Sprints Coach.Currently head track coach  at Churchhill High School in Eugene and is an all sport speed & conditioning coach/consultant. Was a Pac-10 champion in the 200 and NCAA All-Americanwhile competing for the University of Oregon. Jamaican National/Caribbean Sprint Champion. Competed in the Pan American Games in 1980 and 1983. Competed in the World Championships for Jamaica in 1983 and was a 3x Olympic trials qualifier for Jamaica.SHOTPUTDave Cornell - The Dalles High School 25 years coaching, 5 state champions, and 6 runner-ups. Coached his son Jared Cornell to three state Shotput Titles (62'5"). In 1996Jared was 5th in the nation and has been guest coach for several years. Dave is an outstandingclinician and has been giving back to the sport for years.Dean Crouser- 7 Time NCAA All America, shot put & discus. University of Oregon School records in the shot put & discuss. 3 time NCAA Champion. World Record throws in the Pentathlon (shot put, discus, Javelin, hammer, 35 lb weight). Rick Hoxmeier- Has been coaching for 29 years. In that time he has had 20 Metro Leaugue Champions in the shot and discus. He has coached 6 throwers over 57 feet in the shot. He’s coached state champions in both the shot and discus. Coached the women’s national leader and state record holder in 2005. DISCUSBob Boyer - Beaverton High School 14th year. Coached four state competitors, threw shot and discus at Portland State, Bob is an outstanding clinician and is outstanding working drills and progressions. He has coached 22 state placers in the three throwing events, three state champions and all three of his school’s record holders in the boys throws. Oneof the best in the nation.Mac Wilkins * World record holder in the discus 232'6", National Champion, OlympicGold Medallist, All-time World Record Combination Champion in discus shot and javelin. Author, clinician, produced  Gold Medal Discus video. Outstanding World champion who has done so much for the sport.Kevin Carr - 1986 Oregon All American, 1988 Olympic Trials, PR 201.4", Ranked 9th in USA 1997 
JAVELINKaris Cooper- 3 x NCAA competitor, PAC-10 javelin champion, 2 x All-American., U of Oschool javelin record holder with 173’11. She is a great technician. HIGH JUMPKim Mckie- B.S.U. high jump 5 ' 10 ½", A I.W. placer in Nationals. NCAA competitor. Now coaching at Canby. Kim has coached the clinic for years and is one of the kids all time favorites. Outstanding clinician.Jenny Callender (Brogdon)- Two time 4A High School State Champion from LaGrande. She is a University of Oregon Letterman and holds the number six all-time high jump best. She finished 2nd in the PAC 10 in 2002. Her PR is 5’9 ¼. She grew up attending this clinic.HURDLESBryan Hoddle- 2004 Olympic Head Coach of Para-Olympics, Gold medal champion sprinter/River Ridge H.S. Past President, Washington Track Association, author, National speaker, produced video "Speed To Win." USATF rep. For WashingtonLONG JUMPDan Obrian- 3-Time World Champion (1991, 1993, and 1995). 5-Time US Champion (1991, 1993-96). Goodwill Games record holder (8,715 points, set in St. Petersburg in 1994). First ever to score more than 8,700 points more than once, he reached that plateau 3 times in 1994). World record holder (8,891 points set in Talence, France, in 1992). 1994 Goodwill Games champion, following a second-place finish in 1990.Julie Bright- Former University of Oregon track standout and NCAA All-American. 21’7.5” in the long jump. Placed 4th at US Nationals. Was a bronze medallist at Pan American Games.TRIPLE JUMPMike Lariza- has coached at Mt. Hood College, Jumped at WOSU, 51'1" and 23 ft in the long jump 1992 National masters Champion in the long jump and triple jump.POLE VAULTTom Millbrook - Canby H.S. Head Coach, 14 yrs. Sponsor Level I TAC Track and Field Classes. Goodtechnician, one of Oregon's finest coaches. Level two certified in jumps and distance. Constantly promoting track and field.Dan West - has been coaching for 29 years at the high school, junior college, and univiversity level. Dan coached 8 years at Montana State University, six years at the University of Oregon, 10 years a Lane C.C. He coached top British vaulter to a 13th place finish at the Tokyo World Championships in 1991 and also coached him at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Presently works for First to the Finish.Greg Hess- Canby H.S. pole vault coach. Canby High School polevault record holder. Was a 16 foot vaulter at Western Oregon University.
