Sierra Vista’s Ashley Weber completed her run in the Junior Olympics at Morgan State University in Baltimore on Wednesday, finishing fourth in the shot put with a top throw of 45-feet, 2 1/4 inches. She finished a quarter-inch out of the medals, as Tera Novy from Montesano, Wash. went 45-2 1/2 to take third.
First-place went to Christina Hillman of Magnolia, Del. with a throw of 53-10 1/4, easily beating second-place finisher Victoria Owers by more than six feet.
On Monday, Weber finished second in the hammer throw, going 159 feet. Avana Story from Atlanta, who went 178-2.
Weber, who signed with Arizona State University in February, reports to Tempe on Aug. 18 and soon after begins training for the upcoming track and field season.
